If you find yourself wandering around Covent Garden on a weekend, or are looking for a special spot in London with healthy-eating options, I can't recommend enough that you wander off the beaten track to explore the holistic haven that is Neal's Yard.
The courtyard is the most magical setting; you'll find a plethora of cute little eateries and wellness stops here, but my favourite has to be the Wild Food Cafe. This plant-based cafe is a ray of sunshine, with its bright and enticing exterior and mellow, welcoming atmosphere. Everything is colourful and vibrant, from the cosy decor to the fresh, nutrient-packed food!
I find a lot of people can be put off by the vegan or vegetarian tag thinking the menu will be too limiting, but rest assured there is so much variety and soooo many yummy options available here! From hearty salads to full on veggie burger options. If you're a smoothie lover you definitely won't be disappointed either...
Once inside, the cafe quite literally glows, with these beautiful salt lamps creating a really mellow and tranquil vibe. There's a super relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and whilst it is cosy and small there is plenty of seating and I have never been left waiting too long for a spot to sit!
As a self-confessed sweet-tooth, I find a meal is just not complete without a healthy dose of something sweet to round it off! If you're a dessert lover like me you will definitely not be disappointed with the amazing choices here... From raw cheesecakes to choc tarts, and even their own spin on a banoffee pie! If you've never tried a raw vegan dessert then you really are missing out - they are the richest, sweetest, most satisfying puddings. So so tasty but somehow don't leave you feeling too over-full or sluggish. The perfect ending to a meal!
Next time you find yourself in covent garden, whether in need of a spontaneous pit-stop or planning a special meal out, get yourself to Neal's Yard, explore the beautiful courtyard space, and check out this little oasis of plant-based goodness!
