HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE

If you’re anything like me the recent chilly Autumn temps have inspired an appetite for stodgy comfort food and spiced hot drinks! This has caused an expensive addiction to Pumpkin Spiced Lattes from Starbucks, with me craving a daily dose of this deliciously warming liquid gold! I decided it was time to turn my hand to creating my own, so after browsing Youtube obsessively in search of recipe inspiration I have put together the below rough guidelines so you can give it a go at home too! I found these guidelines to create the perfect spice/sweet balance, but try it as you go to create the perfect concoction to suit your taste!
To make 2 mugfuls, you will need:

2 cups of unsweetened almond milk
2 shots of espresso
1/2 cup or 2 tablespoons pureed pumpkin (You can find canned pumpkin in most supermarkets, I found mine in Waitrose!)
1 tablespoon sugar of your choice (I used Coconut Nectar Sugar)
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Ginger
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
Drizzle of syrup to taste (I used Sweet Freedom dark fruit syrup)
Approx. 1 tablespoon water
Extra Cinnamon to top

To make:
  1. First take your pumpkin puree and spoon into a small saucepan, adding in the sugar and all the spices.
  2. Stir on the hob and heat up until a thick, syrupy paste is formed - add a little water (one tablespoon should be enough) to thin it out slightly and achieve the perfect syrupy texture.
  3. Once you have formed the syrupy paste, add your liquid (2 cups milk and 2 shots of espresso)
  4. Heat the mixture on the hob until piping hot
  5. Your latte is now ready to serve, pour into two mugs and add a sprinkling of cinnamon on top for decoration and extra spice!
Now just sit back and sip the warming, spicy yet sweet Autumnal deliciousness! Enjoyyy x
