THE ULTIMATE GREEN SMOOTHIE

I never feel better than when I am in the routine of having a daily dose of greens for breakfast, in the form of this amazing Green Smoothie! It is so cleansing and full of nutrients which are amazing for your skin. I really see a difference in my skin when I pair a daily green smoothie with upping my water intake, they are the dream team for clear hydrated skin, and it really is the perfect way to start your day!

Green Smoothies can be a bit daunting, especially if you're not all that into your greens, but trust me this is the perfect way to get more veg into your day, and you will hardly notice it's there! To add sweetness, Apples are always my go to in smoothies - they work perfectly to mask the taste of aaall that green veggie goodness! Another great natural sweetener is Pineapple - even sweeter than Apples and the perfect veggie cover up when you are just starting out in the green smoothie game!

For the liquid I usually cheat a bit and use pressed Apple juice as my liquid base - this again works to sweeten the overall flavour. But the more you have green smoothies, the more you become used the flavour and can experiment with less sweetness and more greenery!

The Cucumber in this is full of antioxidants and naturally rich in water, making it soo so good for your skin. If you're after something a bit sweeter, melon is a great substitute for this.

Avocado is one of the key ingredients in this recipe, and one of my all time fave foods... I must get through one a day! But if you're not the biggest fan of them, popping half in a smoothie is a great way to get all the nutrients. The avocado in this really gives this smoothie a silky, creamy milkshake-like texture!

This recipe makes one big glass, or two littl'uns!

You will need:

2 Cups Spinach
1/2 Avocado
1/3 Cucumber
1 Apple or 1 cup of Pineapple
1 handful of ice
Liquid of your choice (Apple Juice/Coconut Water/ Water)

Optional extras:

1 inch Ginger
Small handful of Mint or Basil
1 teaspoon of Wheatgrass powder
1/2 teaspoon of Spirulina powder

How to make:

I make all my smoothies in my trusty Nutri Bullet which I have had for years, it is perfect for all kinds of smoothies as it can grind up ice and harder fruits such as apple. It has never let me down!

- I start by roughly chopping all the dry ingredients and packing them into the blender

- Once all the dry ingredients are in I pour over the liquid, to about 1/3 of the way up the blender cup and add the ice.

- I then add any additional herb or powders (powders def work best when added after the liquid or they will get stuck to your blender!)

Once it is all whizzed up that is your smoothie good to go! This is the perfect brekkie to bottle up and drink on the go, or pop in a pretty jar and garnish with mint, basil or freeze-dried fruits and enjoy at a more leisurely pace! Deeeelish x
