CLINIQUE BEAUTY

It's fair to say I've been eyeing up these chubby sticks for a while...! Everything about them appealed to me, including the adorable (and slightly gimmicky) name ! The chubby sticks drew me to the Clinique counter, but I ended up exploring the whole range that they had to offer. I feel like Clinique is a great brand with some high quality and reasonably priced products, that is sometimes overlooked in favour of other brands that have flashier packaging or higher profile ad campaigns. Exploring their range I discovered some great new products, as well re-discovering some old faves! Keep reading for a low-down of my top Clinique picks...

Cheek Pop in Melon Pop
I was really drawn to this product, not only because of the gorgeous flower-embossing, but also the bright coral tone! It is such a flattering blush shade that really brightens the complexion. Testing the shades in store I was torn between this one and the very similar Peach Pop, but opted for the Melon shade in the end. This one has a bit more pink in it, which seemed to brighten the complexion that little bit more - I also think this shade is the more versatile of the two, and will compliment my skin tone as it changes throughout the seasons.

Even Better Foundation
This is a great all round foundation which I have repurchased a few times now. What I love most about it is how kind it is to the skin, it feels light, breathable and moisturising. It has quite a thick consistency for a liquid foundation, but is really easy to blend. It works well when applied with fingers for a super natural, dewy look but still offers a decent amount of coverage. Clinique claims it has skin clarity improving properties - whilst I'm not sure if this is the case, my skin does feel clear when I use it, and the SPF 15 is a great preventative measure so you know you are covered everyday. The one issue I find with this foundation is the shades on offer - whilst there's a wide range available they are all very pink-toned, I would love to see this foundation available in warmer/yellow-toned shades.

Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick
This foundation is the perfect on the go product, slim and travel friendly and so convenient for touch-ups when you're out and about. Simply scribble over the skin and blend the product with fingers or a buffing brush. It's pretty high coverage, so can double as a concealer on the go, but can also be sheered out for an all-over natural look. Unlike other Clinique foundations, there was a very warm/yellow toned shade available (shade 08), which works perfectly on my skin when more bronzed in the Summer, or when using fake tan!

Chubby Stick - Sculpting Highlight
This is a sheer cream product which creates a gorgeous, natural champagne glow to the cheekbones. Simply dab onto any area you want to highlight; I like to soften and blend this out using my fingers to create a soft, natural look, but the product can also be buffed with a brush. The effect is a really subtle sheen, not too shimmery just really natural and glowy!

Chubby Stick - Sculpting Contour
This stuff is so pigmented it makes contouring a breeze, just one swipe and the colour pay-off is amazing! To apply, simply use like a crayon to draw lines on your contours. As this product is so intensely pigmented, it is best to then blend with a buffing brush to soften the edges and ensure a seamless finish. The colour is pretty warm-toned so can also be smudged onto the cheeks for a natural bronzy glow - a real multi-purpose and easy to use product!

Chubby Stick - Moisturising Lip Colour Balm
This product is perfect for a pop of long-wearing colour. It is essentially a sheer tint/balm hybrid, which provides a wash of vibrant colour and a slick of moisture at the same time. Another great travel product, great for adding some colour to transform your look on the go!

I have swatched all the products below, the chubby sticks are super creamy and opaque, with the highlight being slightly lighter in texture, and the lip balm more of a sheer tint. The blush is a natural, powder finish.

  1. I'm in love with your blog, your images and yes, the clinique foundations too :) I haven't been a fan of the chubby stick but I might give this one a go since I've pretty much been through all of them now :)
